Kids in the Kitchen with Curious Chef

Curious Chef's 6 piece Fruit and Veggie Prep Kit, entices children to get into the kitchen.

As a Mom, I feel passionately about getting my kids into the kitchen and teaching them valuable life skills that will stay with them forever. How often do I hear teens and college students say that they don't know how to cook. How? How could you not know one of the many needed skills to survive out on your own?

I grew up watching my Mom in the kitchen and grew up loving to cook and bake. If Mom would have banned me from the kitchen, I don't think my family would be eating such wonderful, wholesome and healthy food. We'd probably be eating processed foods way more often than we do. (now don't get me wrong, I have no objection on using pre packaged foods, once it a while)

When I was approached by Curious Chef, to review their 6 piece Fruit and Veggie Prep Kit, I totally jumped at the chance. I had heard of the Curious Chef through a fellow blogger and fell in love with their whole line of kitchen tools, perfectly suited for children.

The kids love being in the kitchen, and they have enjoyed using Curious Chef tools while helping me bake and prep dinner. Having their own kid perfect tools, has increased their self esteem in the kitchen. Queenie is now in charge of peeling carrots whenever they are needed and both kids LOVE cutting their apples, using the apple slicer.

Queenie made good use of most of our Curious Chef tools, when helping me make the Almond-Apple Crisp, I posted earlier this month. She became a pro with the apple slicer and chopped apples using the nylon knife. Mixing is a breeze for her with the silicone mixing spoon, which is the perfect size for little hands.

The 6 piece Fruit and Veggie Prep Kit includes a medium nylon plastic knife, vegetable scrubber, vegetable peeler, apple slicer, large silicone mixing spoon, melon baller, grocery list and stickers. The tools feature ergonomic handles with soft touch button grips, are dishwasher safe and BPA free. They are suitable for children ages 4 and up, and are perfect to teach your children about kitchen safety, healthy eating habits and basic math skills.

I don't have kids of my own, but my niece is 1 1/2 yrs old, so I'll be teaching her to cook when she's older. I already have lots of plans, so I'd love to win this!

My boys help me make almost every thing in the kitchen. My older son helps food prep, the middle one helps pour ingredients into the bowl (after I measure) and the baby sits and eats :)
